Antares

۞ Antares is a fiery red and emerald green, binary star, near the center of the constellation Scorpius and has also been known as “the Heart of the Scorpion”.

۞ According to Ptolemy the influence of Antares is like Mars and Jupiter.

۞ Antares gives a spirit of adventure, honours, and broad-mindedness but also warns of malevolence, destructiveness, obstinacy, violence, injuries to the eyes, several marriages, and a sudden loss.

۞ Abraham Ibn Ezra identified Antares with the biblical Kesil, probably in connection with being directly opposed on the sphere to Kimah which he claimed for Aldebaran (this star Antares lies directly across the zodiac from Aldebaran).

۞ Antares is one of the four “Guardians of Heaven” – “sentinels” watching over other stars. It formed one of the four royal stars of Persia as “Watcher of the West”. These were also called archangel stars; Antares was Uriel – Teacher of the Heavenly Host.

۞ Position of Behenian Fixed Star Antares in the year 5760 (2000 C.E.): 9°45′ Sagittarius and conjunct Fixed Star Han (9°13′ Sagittarius).

۞ Yellow Sapphire is the Birthstone of 9°-10° Sagittarius.

۞ Antares is one of the 15 Behenian Fixed Stars. Sardonyx is the birthstone of Antares. And the lucky herb for Antares is the Birthwort.
