۞ Gomeisa (AKA The Weeping One, The Bleary-Eyed One) is a white star in the neck of the Lesser Dog.

۞ Gomeisa gives fame through speaking, love of dogs, but also warns of frivolity, as well as the dangers of drowning and dog-bites.

۞ Arab Astrologers traditionally called Mirzam and Gomeisa “The Anouncers”, heralding the coming of Sirius, the biggest star in the sky, because they rose before Sirius in the night sky. In Arabia Mirzam and Gomeisa were compared to two dogs whose barking announced the arrival of visitors.

۞ According to Ptolemy Gomeisa is of the nature of Mercury and Mars.

۞ Thulite is the Birthstone of Fixed Star Gomeisa (22°12′ Cancer).
